Synopsis

The story is about an ex-ballerina, Larisa Bashkatova, who spent all her life at the National Opera and Ballet in Chisinau. Since the very beginning and till now ballet endured the same ups and downs as the whole Moldovan society due to political and economic instability. Shards behind the scenes is a reflection of Moldova’s history Seen through the perspective of the ballet, a majestic form of ART that’s in a total decay nowadays.

Biography

Daniela was born in Moldova. Currently getting her MA in documentary film directing at the Academy of Music Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău. Daniela spent all her life practicing ballet, violin, horse riding, modelling. Filmmaking is a way of expressing ideas for her, and she made her first steps in film directing with the film Shards behind the scenes. Currently she works on the documentary film Vive la femme as a director. The film is about the emancipation of women in the USSR.
