Synopsis

Observant and in finely composed images, the film accompanies a group of tour guides in their daily life. Mixing humor with seriousness, we look deep into the soul of a country caught between a bloody past and an uncertain future. For seven years Andrey has been selling, to visitors from all over the world, unusual “off-tourism” through a make-believe world built on political and social delusion. Closely following the dreams of the supposedly good old USSR, it is fought to keep the facade as long as possible. From the Lenin tour to the leisurely car tour in an old Soviet Volga, everything is included. His most frequent guests are Germans, mostly aged 50+. And besides his tourist office, there are a lot of competitors popping up every day. A film about the perfect eastern myth makers and what reality lies behind the curtain, at the very edge of the European Union.
