
Gagauzian Youth is invited to join documentary film workshop Moldox Lab Gagauzia. Applications are open until June 8.
Moldox Lab is launching applications for its new workshop Moldox Lab Gagauzia, which will take place from June 30 to July 6 in Comrat, exclusively for young people from the Gagauz autonomy.
During this course, 10 selected participants will create short documentary films about autonomy and on social topics they find important. The workshop will be conducted in Russian language and led by international award-winning documentary filmmaker Beata Bubenets (France).
The workshop will culminate with public screenings of the films on July 6 in Comrat, and later in late November in Chișinău, during the international Moldox documentary film festival.
How to apply?
To participate, fill out the application form by June 8. Organizers will contact selected participants. Preliminary interviews may be conducted as part of the selection process.
Participation is free of charge. Organizers will cover travel and accommodation costs for participants from outside Comrat.
Who can apply?
- Young people aged 16 and above residing in Gagauzia.
- Only those available for the entire duration of the workshop are eligible.
- No prior filmmaking experience is required, nor is owning filming equipment.
Selection Criteria
Participants will be chosen based on their application responses. The selection committee will consider applicants’ motivation and whether they already have ideas for a short documentary film that could be made in Gagauzia during the course.
Selection will be made by the Moldox Lab team and mentor Beata Bubenets.
About the mentor

Beata Bubenets is a documentary film director and educator. She holds a degree in philology and graduated in 2013 from the School of Documentary Film and Theater led by Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov. She has worked in documentary cinema for over 10 years.
Her films have been selected for and awarded at major international festivals, including IDFA, True/False, Open City Doc, Artdocfest, Lavr, Cottbus, One World FF, Docudays UA, the Documentary Film Festival in New York, and the Brisbane International Film Festival, among others.
Since 2022, she has lived in Paris. Since 2020, she has been delivering masterclasses on documentary filmmaking. In 2023–2024, she taught documentary film at the University of Paris Nanterre and UXILE, and is the creator of her online course on documentary filmmaking and promotion.
