Today, June 30, the Moldox Lab Gagauzia documentary film workshop officially opened at the Tekwill center in Comrat. The workshop is organized by the educational platform Moldox Lab. Over the course of a week, ten young participants from the Gagauzian region of Moldova will create short documentary films under the guidance of internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker Beata Bubenets (France).
The project aims to amplify young voices in the region. The workshop is held in Russian language and includes both theoretical sessions and practical fieldwork in filming and editing. During the seven-day program, participants selected through an open call will learn the basics of observational filmmaking, develop storytelling techniques through interaction with their protagonists, and edit their own short films.
The program will culminate in public screenings of the completed films, which will take place on July 6 in Comrat and at the end of November in Chișinău as part of the international documentary film festival Moldox.
Moldox Lab is an educational platform founded by the Moldox International Documentary Film Festival. For over 10 years, the program has been promoting documentary film education among Moldovan youth and fostering connections between local filmmakers and the international documentary industry.
The Moldox Lab Gagauzia workshop is organized by the public association Moldox as part of the project “10th Edition of Moldox Lab”, with support from the National Youth Agency, through the 2025 Annual Grant Program for Youth Organizations.
